10 Random Things I Have Posted Online, Completely Out of Context

Things I Notice That Bother Me Slightly

1) When you stick your nose and smell an empty bottle of root beer, it smells an awful lot like bubblegum.

2) Everyone I know seems to think Stopped Clock Illusion isn't a real thing.

3) I always need less yarn than the pattern calls for. Like two or three skeins less.

4) A bad parent is someone who doesn't make their kids buckle their seatbelts in a car, but a good parent is allowed to let them run rampant on a train. FYI, this is just as dangerous as riding in a car without a seatbelt.

5) Pets are animals that live in our houses and get free room, board and massages simply for being cute.  (This is especially true of cats.)

6) Math.

7) Whenever someone on the train asks me who I'm knitting something for and I say "myself" I get funny looks.

8) Whenever someone asks me to knit something for them and I say "no," I get even funnier looks. Double points if they offer to pay for the yarn.

9) Somewhere out there someone will look at my list and say "Why on earth would you make a list of things that bother you?" And I'll answer "Because it's funny." It probably isn't but meh. I didn't have any other ideas for a blog post.

Wordle, New Year, and Randomness

I've become obsessed with a website called Wordle. Basically, you upload a paragraph or a series of paragraphs and the program generates a cool picture with certain words bigger than others, depending on how many times the word shows up in the uploaded text. Here's one I did of a recipe for an Apple Tart with Caramel Sauce:



It's also the first post of the new year! So happy New Year to all, and I hope it's a fantastic one.

An Observation

Have you ever noticed something about Whipped Cream? There's only one kind of whipped cream and it's called Nowhere Near Enough Whipped Cream.

I've been looking for the elusive Quite Enough Whipped Cream but I can't seem to find it. Or rather, I think I've found it and it turns out to be Nowhere Near Enough whipped cream.

Think about it: You're getting your piece of pecan pie (homemade by yours truly, BTW) and you would love whipped cream on top. So you ask for some, and someone puts a bit on, thinking it's Quite Enough whipped cream. But you take one look at it and suddenly it's Nowhere Near Enough whipped cream, so you need more. Lots more. Like, volume wise, it's more than the slice of pie more.

I could have sworn I purchase a huge freakin' can of whipped cream for the sorority dinner tonight. By the third person to try and use it, it was all gone. Turns out I got Nowhere Near Enough whipped cream again.

Anyone know where I can get Quite Enough whipped cream?

Randomness and Friday the 13th

Wow. It's been so crazy since the first, no wonder I haven't had time to blog!

1) Aced all my classes. A's all around. Considering the amount of work involved, not too shabby if you ask me.

2) Happy Birthday to me on the 3rd! I am officially 23.

3) I am currently in Colorado working. More video editing. I thought I might get out of that when I was done with the semester.

4) I got awesome yarn for my birthday! Hand-spun alpaca. I'm making a hat out of it. Pics will come later.

5) Pear's wedding is next week. Erica's in two weeks. So much to do for those.

6) Went to a dance. Never sat down. I was asked to dance every single dance! I know! Crazyness!

7) Made more berry tart for the combined bridal shower for Pear and Erica. Also made angel food cake. Yum.

So much is going on right now, and next semester starts in one week! And I still have so much to do! Wish me luck!

Random Friday

1. I am going on a blind date tonight. I also have to pack a picnic dinner for the movie (it's a Sorority Date Night, so not a surprise).

2. Yesterday I said this boy had better be worth spending $150 on food. Today I don't care because I just made the pastry creme for the berry tart.

3. I really shouldn't make pastry creme. Left to my own devices, I would probably finish off the whole bowl without ever putting it on the tart.

4. I finished the Icarus Shawl from Best of Interweave Knits. See.


5. Some guy down by the pool where the grill is for this apartment complex tried to tell me he thought I was hot or something. He was smelling the awesome grilled chicken I was making for tonight (and I really shouldn't need a special occasion for this stuff. It's amazing!) and said that if it weren't for his girlfriend, he'd marry me just for the food. Then he got all embarrassed as he realized what he implied and amended it, but the other girls down by the pool were still laughing at him.

6. I dropped stats. Oh happy day.

7. Did I mention the pastry creme? Because I really shouldn't make it. The rest of it is sitting in a bowl in the refrigerator and it's calling my name. I may have to eat it just to make it shut up.
